The GBSHSE stands for the Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education. It is the main state board of education in the Indian state of Goa which is responsible for secondary and higher secondary education management in its affiliated schools.
The GBSHSE board is an educational board native to the state of Goa. The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education was established on 27 May 1975 .It was established under “The Goa, Daman and Diu Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Act, in the year 1975”.
The aim of GBSHSE Board is to provide secondary and higher secondary education .And for the same purpose grant recognition to the required number of such schools in the territory. Special attention is paid for the improvement of the secondary and higher secondary education so that it can also meets the required needs and few standards of economic and social development.
It also provides adequate facilities for the educational and professional advancement of socially and educationally backward communities so that to take such steps and measures as they lead to intellectual, physical, academic and cultural development of the youth.
Goa Board Duties and Responsibilities plays important rule as Major Functions are performed by the Goa Board include Grant and withdraw recognition to the Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools. The board also advises the government on matters of policy relating to secondary and higher secondary education in general and other matters.
There are Lay down guiding principles regarding all the co-curriculum and syllabus for the whole secondary and higher secondary educational courses and to prepare the detailed syllabus for secondary and higher secondary education and is also advised by the Government in standard requirement in respect of staff, buildings, equipment, furniture, stationery and other amenities required for secondary and higher secondary schools.
Prescribe and prepare all text-books for all standards of secondary and higher secondary education according to the board. It also prescribes conditions for admission for regular and private students for the final examinations.
The board declares the results of the students after the final examinations conducted by it. Examinations conducted by Goa Board are Std X in months of March and October and also Std XII in the months of March, June and October.
